Photographs

I really like this photograph. A friend of mine took it, in her final year scholar trip.
Specifically, she took it in Brazil.
I like this photo because I thing that the colors that it has are amazing. But the principal reason is because it has a Magnolia tree. The thing is that my favorite tree of the world is the Magnolia. So when I found this picture, the combination of the tree, the beautiful colors and the ocean behind, make me felt in love.
I am a fanatic of analog cameras. I believe that digital cameras are too impersonal. You take the picture and then you have it in your computer, but never in your own hands. The great thing of taking photos, in my opinion, is when you can have them in your hands, maybe in an album. I think that the time you have to wait meanwhile they reveal the roll, it´s an amazing waiting. Another reason of why I like analog cameras, is because every photograph that you take it´s a special one. You choose carefully what moment you like to capture. On the other hand, Digital cameras can take thousand of photographs. Photos that maybe you don´t even care.
I am not a photolog freak. In fact, I never had been has a photolog. The truth is that I don´t even know how to pass photos to a computer. Instead of that I have facebook. In my perfil I have a lot of photos of myself, my friends and my family. Also some photos of trips that I made.
I like black and white photographs. I don´t know why exactly. Maybe because they seemed to me like photos about the past. Like photos of antique moments that now are beautiful memories.

Movies

I really don’t know what my favorite movie is. But one of the movies that I like the most is V for Vendetta. This movie it’s an adaption of the comic book series of the same name and it talks about a man called “V” that fight against his totalitarian society. I really like this movie because it makes an allegory of the oppression and intervention that the government does. And also because in this movie some important things like freedom and love are mention. That’s why I really recommended it! In fact, I already have seen it two times.
I really like to see movies. But the truth is that I haven’t has a lot of free time, so I don’t remember what’s the last movie I have seen.
I also believe that go to the cinema it’s a funny activity to do. But sadly, going to traditional cinemas is every year more expensive. That’s why I usually search on internet some places where they show movies for free. Some examples of these places are the national cinema and Uc cinema. Another great alternative to see movies for free it’s too seen it at the computer. There is an amazing page called “Cuevana” where you can find thousand of movies to see, of every topic.
The truth is that I don’t like to see scary or terror movies. But it isn’t because it makes me be afraid. It’s just that I see no point in it.

The most incredible experience!

Travel to different places and countries, is the most amazing thing that you can do. In fact, my favorite thing to do is travel. All year I dream with the idea of travel around latinoamerica. On 2010 I went to Ecuador and Bolivia and last summer I went to Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay for one month. Also I’ve been in the south of our country, in Tierra del Fuego, Puerto Natales y Chiloe. Few years ago I also went to the north of Chile. When I travel I usually go with my friends or my family.
I feel that that type of experience is the best thing you can do. When you are in that dimension of life, everything is beautiful. Being near to the nature knowing different cultures is the most incredible experience that you can have.
This summer I would really like to go to the jungle. I thing that I will go to Bolivia. Oh! And I have very good news. Yesterday my family and I decided to make a good trip on winter vacations. Probably we will go to Disney or Colombia.
Talking about places that are near to Santiago, few weeks ago I went to “Cajon del Maipo” with my family and to “Palmas de Ocoa” with my class.
I recommended this type of experience to anyone!

Beautiful free time

Lately I haven`t has much free time. I have been has a lot of homework, specially a lot of texts and books to read.
In spite of that, the free time that I have I usually spend it with my beloved people. For example, this weekend it was my brother’s birthday so all my family went to my house. I also spend a lot of time with my friends and my boyfriend.
What I really missed is to spend time playing sports. I used to play basketball but the last years I have become a loose person. In fact when I was a child I loved to play any type of sports, specially tennis and football. I also like to ride my bike and dance.
A hobby that I really would like to try is to play the piano, because I think that it`s an amazing instrument that make a beautiful sound.
Next week I will probably go to the theatre. I really enjoy watching theater plays; In fact someday I want to write a script of some play.
I think that I spare my time very well, because I enjoy every minute of it, but the truth is that I would love to have more time to do all the things that I have in mind.

Fieldwork rocks

Bronislaw Malinowski was a Polish British Anthropologist (1884- 1942).
He was the founder of the anthropological current named “functionalism”. His pioneering work in ethnographic fieldwork was one of the bigger contributions that he made to the discipline. He said: “the final mission is to understand the point of view of natives, their relations with life, their vision of world.”
His first fieldworks were on Nueva Guinea. In that place he studied, with a global approach, how are the relations between native people, their religion, economic, and social organization. He also made important studies of different African tribal societies.
I really like Malinowski because he believes that, if you really want to understand different cultures, you have to study the societies in their origin places. You have to live with them; trying to understand the motives of their actions. And that’s why I believe that this type of approach it`s the most important one, because if you established a closed relation with people, you could understand the motives of their actions, their feelings, their ideas. I believe that that’s the beautiful thing of qualitative investigations, that you can understand the real motors that moves not only one person actions, but also the motives of an entire society.
